The Academic Council

VolRC RAS Academic Council includes 25 people – 8 Doctors and 17 Candidates of Sciences.

Director of VolRC RAS, who is the Chairman of the Academic Council, Scientific Director, Head of the NWDFGMRI Separate Subdivion, heads of VolRC RAS scientific departments, and the Scientific Secretary, who is the Scientific Secretary of the Council, are members of the Academic Council by virtue of their positions.

Valid RAS members (academicians, corresponding members), who are employees of VolRC RAS, and the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists become members of the Academic Council without elections (with their consent).

The work of the Academic Council is organized in accordance with the six-month work schedule.

The sessions of the Academic Council are held at least once a month. Researchers, graduate students, and invited experts from the Vologda Oblast Government and business take part in the consideration of scientific reports and papers during these meetings.

VolRC RAS Academic Council:

develops and approves the plan of the Institute’s research work in accordance with the annual plans of fundamental and research scientific studies developed and approved by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation together with RAS for academic institutions, subordinate to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education within the program of long-term fundamental scientific research in the Russian Federation;
develops main research guidelines of the Center;

recommends for approval programs of research works, plans of scientific personnel training, international collaboration, meeting, conferences, and other plans;

reviews issues of material, technical, and financial supply of planned works;

discusses and approves reports of the Director, Head of the subdivision, and heads of structural scientific departments concerning the research results;

discusses and approves the most important results of the Center’s work for annual reporting;

discusses relevant issues of science development, hears scientific reports and speeches;

nominates research works, scientific discoveries, and inventions for inscribed medals and bonuses; nominates the Center’s research associates for academic degrees and honorary titles;

proposes candidates for RAS correspondent members;

elects the scientific supervisor of the Center and heads of its research departments;

elects chief editors of the Center’s publications and approves their editorial staff;

estimates the results of the Center’s and its departments’ research works;

reviews and recommends the Center’s research works for publishing;

controls the Center’s postgraduate school, approves subjects of theses and graduate students’ scientific supervisors;

systematically hears reports of graduate students and their supervisors;

submits the draft regulations on the Academic Council of the separate division of the Center to the Director;

considers other issues referred to its competence by the legislation of the Russian Federation and the Charter of the Center.
